The Martingale Betting System

The Martingale Betting System

The Martingale betting system is probably one of the most common betting systems that are known by avid gamblers. Even if you think you haven’t ever heard of it, chances are you have gone as far as trying at it at a casino.

This betting system surfaced around the 19th century, and exploded into the gambling halls with little mercy. That it, until casinos caught on, and butchered it.

The Martingale betting system works in a very simple way, which has probably helped this become very popular to begin with. It works ideally with the Roulette, and it has the player double bet when he loses, until he wins, at which point he regains all previous losses as well as a profit of his initial bet.

Like said earlier, casinos have caught on to this betting system and introduced the table limits, which not only make riskier, but actually turns this system in the casino’s favor.

Suppose you started with a $10 bet. If you lose 5 times in a row, your next bet will be $320. In most cases, your next bet will surpass the table limit, making you lose a total of all of the bets until now. That ends up being $630, not including the next bet (which is $640!). At this point, not have you lost a shitload of money, but the casino has more than covered all of the other smart asses that have had some luck with this betting system and made a small profit.

In a nutshell, don’t use the Martingale betting system! Instead, try the Labouchere betting system and its variations, which have the table limit problem pretty much solved.
